It's A Sad Day In My Borderline Phenomenal Life

Well after months and months of complaining about my laptop having problems and just randonly turning off, he finally passed away today.

RIP Lappy, you will be missed

Lappy was a dear companion for the last six years. He's been through a lot. A month after he was born, someone stole him from my house. He was returned twenty minutes later but my three male roomates got jumped by some  gangstas in the process. Lappy and I were both very grateful.

Two broken noses and a brick to the skull..all for my lappy. Thanks C, C, and T!
(and yes, that's C from Used and Abused looking like a depression ad)

He also had some soda spilled on him two years ago and cost me a buttload of money to fix. But he was worth it because I loved him so. But now I just can't afford to fix him again, because he's old and outdated and needs to go on to a bigger and better place. Computer heaven or the Recycling center.

Seriously no idea what I'm going to do. I have two blogs, a third one in the works and all of my pictures/files from the last 6 years are in lappy's memory. Also was hoping to start classes again eventually. I need to get another one to transfer files over to but unfortunately my credit is horrible. I would say that's all my fault but it isn't. It's due to hospital bills that my insurance was supposed to cover but is STILL fighting on paying.

I didn't mean for this to be a Debbie Downer post but just wanted to let readers know why there haven't been any new amazing posts lately. I have one in the works regarding my birthday but since I have nothing to write on, I might have to sneak in the post while at work on a slow day...hopefully in the very near future. Or maybe I'll get all your addresses and send you a blog post via snail mail.

Thank you for listening to me vent. I should have posted this over at It's Whine Thirty.. if you haven't been over there yet, go check it out. It's an awesome bitching fest over there.  We'll be back soon with our usual funny stories and pictures of all my amazing Birthday shenanigans but until then I'll be writing on my typewriter.

Awww, I swear my Dell is about to do the same thing. I have had it since 05'. It's a faithful computer, but I can just tell it hates me.

Sorry to hear you're without. But at least you can use Amanda's, right?!?

Yeah for posting at work, I just did!

Hmmm maybe I should have sent you cash instead of the gifts.

I am so sorry to hear about Lappy and your money woes. I hope it can all work out for you.

I'm so sorry as well. Anything I can do let me know. If I find a netbook on sale or at 50% discount, you will be first to know.

Once again, I'm so sorry. Get like me and start entering free contests. You've been winning stuff so you never know what might happen.

I completely feel your pain... my toshiba conked out on me about a month ago so my mom bought me a refurbished dell and that thing just crapped out on me last week, it will cost roughly $400 to repair at that rate buying a new one is the better option. I haven't figured out what to do yet so here I sit on the family desktop trying to find time for blogging, twitter and other productive endeavors.

Misery loves company, right? I expect my computer to konk out one of these days too. Mr. NotSmitten will want to replace it but I'm hoping to get myself a netbook. Not that we can really afford to replace, but I'm sure that won't stop us. #Shopaholic

Glad you're still around on twitter and email in the meantime.

I'm sorry to hear about your lappy. You know you got a lot of life out of it. Most don't make it past the three year mark and if makes you feel any better, I had to recycle my 3 year old iMac in December. I just got a new one.

When you get your new notebook, invest in a back up system. That way you don't lose all your files, should you have any problems.

Sending you positive vibes for a new laptop!

Oh nooooooes! Ugh, I feel so naked without my laptop! I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Have you seen the $299 ones at costco? The hubs bought one of those for a deployment and found it sufficient enough for web browsing and stuff... It might be able to hold you over until you're able to get something more permanent!

Best of luck, bb!

Aww, hun, I feel for you - I really do. Although I work in IT, I'm notoriously crap at keeping backups of the stuff saved on my lapward's HD. One of these days I'm going to come completely unstuck.

And the saddest thing? My mum donated my lapward to me. I didn't even have to pay for it. I therefore have a daughterly duty to keep it clean and virus-free - and to run CheckDisk and Defrag on a regular basis.

I've been having power outage issues lately. I can only hope this doesn't mean that lapward is on his last legs too :-(

I would totally be saying "nooo", and "I'm so sorry", and the likes, if I could just get over the fact that you lived with THOSE three guys. You.One.Lucky.Ho. ;)
Focus on that! LoL

Thanks babes! My friend is actually going to sell me a computer he just bought and doesn't need for VERY cheap so I'm going with that option. But also getting a second opinion on my lappy tomorrow at a mac store here (not Apple). They told me that Apple is quick to brush off older models saying that it can't be fixed and I need to buy a new one so hopefully it's not as bad as I originally though. :)
